- Saugatuck State Park – This park has 2.5 miles of coastal dunes along Lake Michigan’s shoreline with dunes towering 200 feet high and a beach swimming area, this state park also is home to three endangered species. This is a must-see destination for any nature-lovers, hikers, or bird-watchers.
- Root Beer Barrel – Enjoy a touch of local history as you enjoy a fabulous hot dog and root beer float at this authentic root beer barrel in Douglas. There is even a veggie dog option!

Oval Beach
Celebrated around the world for its beautiful sweep of shoreline and backdrop of rolling dunes, this is the main beach in town and the most happening place to soak in the sun. Its impressive pedigree of awards (Condé Nast Traveler’s Top 25 Beaches in the World, National Geographic Traveler’s Top Freshwater Beaches in the USA, and MTV’s Top 5 Beaches in the USA) is proof of its status as a summertime favorite and natural beauty spot. Easy parking, concessions, and a picnic area will keep the whole group happy until the sun goes down. The daily vehicle entrance fee is $10 (8am – 9pm). $50 for a season permit.
Douglas Beach
This small neighborhood beach offers prime real estate for watching the sunset. You’ll find a restroom and picnic area at the top of the hill and a quiet beach down below, tucked in between lakefront homes on each side.
Saugatuck Dunes State Park
Get back to nature in this state-owned park, featuring 2.5 miles of secluded beach and 200-foot tall wooded dunes. Four trails, ranging from 2.5 to 5.5 miles, offer a chance to explore dunes and shore on foot or cross-country skis.

Guardian Brewing Company
Guardian is a destination craft brewery that opened in 2018. It has 10 year-round taps and 12 seasonal and barreled-aged taps offering a wide variety of styles that are “true to style” or have a modern twist. Their draft list features 22 craft beers, 2 hard ciders, and 14 wines, in addition to cocktails that feature Michigan, regional, and imported liquor options. Including a restaurant, the menu focuses on fresh food sourced locally and regionally with a seasonal menu, serving meat, vegetarian, and vegan dishes. As Saugatuck/Douglas’ oldest Craft Brewery; the Saugatuck Brewing Company (SBC) has been a leading producer in the Michigan Craft Beer Industry since brewing its first beer in 2005. The brewery, located conveniently on Blue Star Highway in Douglas, Michigan, boasts two tasting rooms and outdoor patio dining. The Pub features 16 taps, hard cider, and wine along with a full food menu including everything from unique entrees to shareable appetizers. Along with the Pub, SBC recently added on a second taproom dubbed “The Barrel Room,” including 15 additional taps. The Barrel Room is a laid-back tasting room where customers can enjoy a pint while playing a round of one of the many games featured, like shuffleboard, bumper pool, pinball, and more. Virtue Cider
Virtue is a craft cider company launched in 2011 in Fennville, Michigan, by Gregory Hall, former brewmaster at Goose Island. Their mission is to make proper farmhouse ciders from local heirloom apples and employ traditional farmhouse production methods that include native and secondary fermentation, use of wild yeasts, and an expansive oak barrel-aging program.
