Surrounded by woods, this beautiful Victorian-style home offers Lake Michigan lodging accommodations in an ideal setting. The hardwood floors, leaded-glass windows, oak-paneled staircase, and wraparound porch all add to the inviting elegance of Sherwood Forest. Queen-size beds, private bathrooms, and air conditioning add 20th century comforts.
Each morning at our Lake Michigan resort, breakfast is served in the elegant dining room or on the gracious porch. Breakfast favorites include prosciutto ricotta omelets, blueberry buttermilk pancakes, croque madame, eggs in a basket, French toast with marscapone creme fraiche and fresh berries, raspberry streusel, lemon blueberry loaf or orange cranberry delight, accompanied by home made tropical granola with greek yogurt and honey, fresh fruit, home-baked delights, and gourmet coffee and teas. We can and do accommodate those who require gluten-free meals, or any dietary concerns or allergies.
During the summer, swim or lounge in our heated pool tucked into the woods, adorned with a spectacular, hand-painted mural, or walk just 1/2 block to a Lake Michigan public beach. The area’s wide, white sandy beaches are the perfect place for strolling, swimming, or watching beautiful sunsets.
In the springtime, use Sherwood Forest’s bicycles to explore the scenic lakeshore or for a short ride into charming Saugatuck/Douglas. Nearby wooded dunes also offer great hiking paths to enjoy Mother Nature as she awakens and sends out her welcoming chorus of flowers and scents.
In the fall, just outside your window, watch the beech, sugar maple, and sassafras trees paint a colorful picture for your viewing pleasure. In the winter, cross-country ski through the dunes overlooking Lake Michigan, sled the golf course hills, or perhaps just enjoy some much-needed down time with a good book, a warm Jacuzzi, and a cozy fireplace.
All year-round, enjoy the many shopping and fine dining experiences in Saugatuck and Douglas.

Open year-round, reservations are recommended, and a minimum two-night stay is required on weekends (three nights on holidays).
Cancellation is required at least 14 days in advance of the confirmed date(s). If cancellation occurs within 14 days of the dates and if the room(s) can be re-rented, there is no penalty, but if the room(s) cannot be re-rented, the first night stay is non-refundable. If cancellation occurs within 7 days of the confirmed date(s), and the room can not be re-rented, the entire stay is non-refundable.
Credit cards are accepted (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover). Phone is answered from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (Eastern Time). Sherwood Forest reserves the right to charge a deposit (50%) at time of booking, with the balance due on check-out.
Sorry, no pets allowed in the bed and breakfast, cottage only, and no smoking inside the house. Children are welcome in our cottage, please enquire regarding the bed and breakfast.
Check in time is between 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM EST. If you can not make it during that time frame to check in, please call to make alternate arrangements, as we do not have a 24 hour check in desk.
